So I guess normal people like have normal nights before their wedding...
They probably have everything laid out to take to the wedding, have everything packed up, peacefully celebrate their last special night as a single person, and get lots of sleep.
Well that was definitely NOT how it was for us!!!
It was the funnest night, and the most tiring! Such a funny memory.
So...
We got married on the last day of finals week. It was perfect timing, but made for a VERY stressful week. And I just have to say...
The reason I chose April 22, is explained right here...
(sorry mom, I tried to crop out the bottom part, but it wouldn't let me haha. Apparently i was 4 :) hey, i said you were cool...! such a 14 year old.)
So I had to stick to my guns on that one! The 14 year old inside of me would have been torn :( haha. Trent said after last April 22, he knew he was safe for a whole year!!!
Looking back, I think this is so funny. I wrote this one night while I was trying to cope with all my stress – a few weeks before the wedding. I'm not sure if this made me feel better or worse...
My Stresses
Stats test ends Friday, don't know anything about it yet, project due tomorrow at 4, stupid computer's about to be thrown out the window, broken straightener, baths that need to be taken, cake lady that needs to be met at 10:30, class at 12, class at 2, class at 4, meeting at 8, invitations that still need to be out, another huge group project due Friday, work all day Friday, birthday Friday, behind on 4 art projects, tummy that needs food, bridal shower, another project due Monday, another big assignment due Monday, scriptures that need reading, prayers that need to be said, laundry that is way past NEEDing to be done, body that needs sleep. Me? Stressed? Nah...
So anyways...
All week long we had SO much going on.
Studying for finals, getting things ready for the wedding, packing for the honeymoon, buying last minute things, taking 8 finals between us (excluding the Ice Skating Final we both forgot to take, oops), and trying to get ready to get out of our apartments!
But that week, we literally used every minute we had to try and get things done! We didn't have time for ANYTHING! So classes ended, finals came and went, our reception came and went- and turned out so great, good job Mom & Matt!- and then we went home. This was Thursday the 21, and we were going to get married Friday morning, and then leave for our honeymoon. So we both had to be OUT of our apartments, have everything totally spic n span clean, and have everything out, have everything ready for our wedding, be packed for our honeymoon, and have everything else packed up and moved to our storage unit...
Had we started any of that? No.
But I'm telling you... we didn't procrastinate!
So we got home from our reception at like 10ish, and went to work. We started at Trent's apartment and started to pack up ALL his stuff. And when I say he has a lot of stuff, that's an understatement. Midnight rolled around and I am thinking, “Wow I'm not going to get to bed until 2!”
2am rolled around and I am thinking, “Wow I'm not going to get to bed until 4!!!!”
4am rolled around and we still were not even close. Then I realized we just weren't going to sleep at all.
And we worked EVERY minute we had, no joke.
We packed up a car load, ran it over to the storage unit, came back... Over and Over and OVER.
We ran out of boxes and ran over to Macey's to see if they had some. We rounded some up, and forgot we ran out of packaging tape, and both forgot our wallets. So we rounded up a bunch of change I had in my car and bought some tape. HAHA the whole night I was laughing so hard. I thought this was SO funny!
And he was so cute. Every time we got out of the car and walked back up to his apartment he would hold my hand. And every time it was slowly getting a little bit lighter outside.
Finally, SIX freakin THIRTY rolls around and we are finally done with his apartment. But still have mine! Okay I kinda lied, luckily I had tried to be a little bit on the ball and had a lot of my stuff packed up.
Oh, and keep in mind I have my hair appointment at 8am.
So we run to my apartment, and just start throwing things in boxes and shoving it in the car.
--Just in case you're wondering, Why we didn't ask for help I'm not sure... We definitely didn't anticipate this being an all night event--
I get everything ready I need to take to the wedding, still have my hair and make up how it was for the reception, and I AM SO TIRED!!! Trent did most of that packing, and I left, already late for my hair appointment.
So we didn't get a wink of sleep, and had been carrying big heavy boxes ALL night. But we had fun in the process and it made for a fun memory.
We didn't even finish everything, and luckily my super wonderful sister-in-law and Mother-in-law finished while we were off to our honeymoon.
Driving up to Sandy by myself to get my hair done on my wedding day was the weirdest thing.
First of all, I was SO unbelievably tired. And I just felt totally frazzled and unprepared. I remember thinking, did I even remember my wedding dress? Haha.
Luckily I made it to cute Katie's house alive and well.
She did my hair, fed me, and gave me some last minute advice!
I just felt so weird that it was my WEDDING DAY!
Then I got a call from Trent, after packing up everything we owned and shoving it all in our storage unit, he asked “Do you know where we put my temple recommend?”
AHHH!!!
Haha. Don't scare me like that babe! He even said, “Well, we might not be getting married today.” Haha. But luckily he found it and started to make his way up to Salt Lake.
We made a quick stop at my parents to drop his car off. We were supposed to be at the temple at 9:45 and I ran in my mom's house a completely scatter-brained chicken with it's head cut off at 9:30. She was probably so confused!!
But in the end, we made it to the temple, a little late but it was fine.
So that was how the night before OUR wedding went down, totally normal. Anyone else pull an all-nighter on their wedding day? Haha
NO WAY. I can't believe it. I think I would have been crying instead of laughing. And you don't even look exhausted in your wedding pictures! Geez.
